8 March 2018SYMPOSIUM ON INNOVATIVE TEACHING AND LEARNING OF MOTHER TONGUE LANGUAGES 2018
The main aim of the symposium is to expose teachers to innovative ways of teaching and learning of Mother Tongue languages, to enable teachers to adopt innovative teaching strategies for joyful learning. This will make our Mother Tongue languages, living languages.

Through this symposium, innovative approaches were shared to teachers to cater to the different learning abilities of the students, using ICT tools and teaching the language in a simplified and systematic manner.

24 March 2018  THAMIZHODU VILAYADU Thamizhodu Vilaiyaadu is the first nationwide Tamil spelling competition for primary schools organised by Mediacorp Tamil Seithi News & Current affairs and supported by Tamil language and learning promotion committee.  Similar to the game concept of the popular Spelling Bee competitions held worldwide, teams of Primary 4 and 5 students competed in 5 rounds over a period of two months. The main objectives of this competition is to encourage the usage of Tamil language among pupils and to enhance pupils’ spelling skills in Tamil language as well as their vocabulary. Mediacorp Tamil Seithi News & Current affairs 
6 April 2018  E5 CLUSTER TAMIL LANGUAGE FESTIVALTamil Language and Learning Promotional Committee supported the Tamil Language festival organised by E5 cluster. The main objectives of this festival is to expose students to cultural based activities and students to learn and appreciate their culture, to provide a platform for our students  to share their talents with cluster schools and to bring about the joy in learning Tamil language.  7 April 2018 MUTHAMIZH VIZHA Muthamizh Vizha was organized by Association of Singapore Tamil Writers and Supported by Tamil Language and Learning Promotion Committee. Muthamizh Vizha is one of the popular events in Tamil Language Festival. The competitions organized in this event aims to develop students’ interest for spoken Tamil, their language proficiency, equip them with translation skills, to develop their interest for Tamil literature and motivate them to become creative writers. Competitions are organized and categorised for students from Kindergarten to Tertiary Level.

21 April 2018  URAIKALAM “Uraikalam 2018” is an initiative by Tamils Representative Council with the sole aim of attracting more students to inculcate a passion to speak creatively in Tamil with the aid of Technology, Entertainment and Design. “Uraikkalam 2018” uses Technology, Entertainment and Design methods that focuses on engaging the audience and facilitates lively conversations. In the course of the presentation, speakers will have the opportunity to enhance their presentation skills and engage the audience in a creative and effective style. This biennial event for Primary and Secondary Schools is jointly organised by Tamils Representative Council (TRC) and the Tamil Language Learning & Promotion Committee (TLLPC). Tamils Representative Council

 AZHAGEY! TAMILEY!
This signature event was mentioned in COS debate  by Senior Parliamentary Secretary Ms Low Yen Ling. TLLPC organised this event to encourage students and parents to explore learning Tamil Language in a fun and meaningful way. The programme was planned to promote the use of Tamil Language in their daily life. The event was organised for 35 students in Primary 4 and Primary 5 and their parents.  The participants were exposed to interesting language and culture based activities that provided a Tamil speaking environment.  It was conducted as a 2- day non-residential camp. The event had interesting activities such as Tamil Karaoke, Drama, Quizzes, Cooking and Treasure hunt. These activities gave opportunities for parents and their children to bond with each other and at the same time promote the use Tamil language in their daily lives. 30 June 2018  SYMPOSIUM FOR PRE-SCHOOL TAMIL LANGUAGE TEACHERS 2018 The Symposium for Pre-school Tamil Language Teachers 2018 was organised by the Tamil Language Learning & Promotion Committee. The theme for this year's symposium was "Let's Dance and Celebrate!". The event was a platform for pre-school Tamil Language teachers to learn about infusing the joy of teaching and learning through culture and tradition. Ms Indranee Rajah, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, Second Minister for Finance, Second Minister for Education and then Second Minister for Law, was the guest of honour of the event and she launched the 'Theenchittu' app. The app has been created to enhance joyful learning through culture and tradition.  WOW WILD LEARNING PROGRAMME To make the learning of Tamil Language (TL) come alive, the Tamil Language Learning & Promotion Committee (TLLPC) is collaborating with Wildlife Reserves Singapore Group (WRS) to conduct the Wow Wild Learn (ஆஹா! இன்பமான கற்றல் பயணம்) programme.

The programme consists of a series of workshop, activities and supplementary readings, revolving around a learning journey in River Safari. The target audience for the WWL Programme are pre-school TL teachers and Preschoolers (K1 and K2) who are learning TL in pre-school centres.

 21 July 2018 KAMBAN VIZHA Kamban Vizha 2018 was organized by Association of Singapore Tamil Writers and supported by Tamil Language and Leaning Promotion Committee. The main aim of this event is to popularize the great poet Kambar’s poems to students, to help students learn the values of Ramayana such as filial piety, sibling relation, friendship, truth and etc and to improve students’ language proficiency and thereby enrich their knowledge of their mother-tongue. 25 August 2018  MOST INSPIRING TAMIL TEACHERS' AWARD CEREMONY 2018 Tamil Murasu, Singapore Tamil Teachers' Union and Tamil Language Learning and Promotion Committee jointly organised the Most Inspiring Tamil Teachers' Award Ceremony at Umar Pulavar Tamil Language Centre. This ceremony was organised to recognise the efforts of teachers and their selfless dedication to the profession. Ms Indranee Rajah was the guest of honour. Mr Ka Muthu Maanekham, Mr Ra Thuraimanickam and Mrs Bhupathy received the Lifetime Achievement Awards for their many years of service in the teaching fraternity. Under the categories of Primary, Secondary and Pre-university and NIE trainee teachers, a total of 10 teachers received the awards.

7-8 September 2018 WORLD TAMIL TEACHERS' CONFERENCE 2018 World Tamil Teachers' Council, Singapore Tamil Teachers' Union and Singapore University of Social Sciences organised the 12th World Tamil Teachers' Conference at Singapore University of Social Sciences. This event was attended by several local and foreign delegates. These delegates as well as members from the Tamil teaching fraternity from several countries shared about Tamil Language and their many teaching and learning strategies in this conference through the various sharing sessions. As part of this conference, booths were set up by schools and community organisations for the delegates to view  World Tamil Teachers' Council, Singapore Tamil Teachers' Union and Singapore University of Social Sciences
